MEDIA RELEASE: Hospitality gets an early Christmas gift as NSW relaxes COVID restrictions
Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) today welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of a significant rolling back of restrictions relating to restaurants, cafés, caterers and function and event spaces.
R&CA CEO Wes Lambert said that this move was an early Christmas present for the thousands of hospitality businesses who can now gear up for a successful and profitable holiday trade.
‘This is without a doubt the best early Christmas gift the premier could have given the hospitality industry’, Mr Lambert said.
‘This is an announcement that revolutionises the way hospitality venues large and small are able to operate across NSW, the significance of this move cannot be understated.'
‘Whether you are a small café or a large function centre, moving to 1 person per 2sqm without a cap puts our sector back on track’.
‘The introduction of further relaxed dancing rules (of up to 50 people indoors) means many function sectors such as weddings can start the long road to recovery.'
‘However, it is still vitally important that COVID safe activity remains including vigilant use of the QR code check-in systems to ensure that these restrictions stay in place over the long term’, Mr Lambert said.
