MEDIA RELEASE: Clive Glauert wins WA Apprentice Chef of the Year
Restaurant & Catering Australia (R&CA) today announced WA TAFE student Clive Glauert as the winner of the WA Apprentice of the Year at the 2020 Western Australia Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS Awards for Excellence. The Awards for Excellence program formally recognises hospitality staff across a broad range of categories who consistently provide exceptional service and demonstrate culinary excellence in their respective fields.
Restaurant & Catering (R&CA) CEO Wes Lambert congratulated Mr Glauert after beating a highly contested field to win the coveted award.
“The National Awards for Excellence is one of the highlights in the year’s hospitality calendar in WA and taking out a prestigious prize such as Apprentice of the Year is a fantastic achievement for any budding chef’, Mr Lambert said.
“Mr Glauert, as a WA TAFE student, showcases what is best about our home-grown hospitality talent”
Mr Glauert has also been involved in WorldSkills competitions and various charity dinners including assisting the Australian national youth culinary team’s charity dinner in which we served 200 serves of gold medal winning dish at “IKA 2020” Culinary Olympics.
Mr Glauert said that “’My love of food began very young when I lived in Japan for 14 years, helping out my vegetable farm that my mother's family owned”.
“Since moving back to Perth at 2013, I also started helping out seafood wholesale called Festival fish and packed seafood for restaurants and careering businesses. From there I started working at restaurant as high school student at 2017, starting my apprenticeship at Odyssea and never looked back. ‘’
