The aim of the Hospitality Awards is to honour true professionals in the hospitality industry who are dedicated to their profession, who are outstanding and always prepared to strive to achieve excellence, and whose attitude and contribution to their profession has inspired public confidence in the hospitality Industry.

APPRENTICE CHEF OF THE YEAR

Awarded to an Apprentice Chef whose attitude to his or her profession has been highly praised by his or her teachers, superiors, employer, and whose work shows and reflects signs of innovation and creativity.
Open to all Apprentice Chefs undertaking Certificate 3 in Commercial Cookery regardless of length of time they have been enrolled in their apprenticeship provided they have not fully completed their apprenticeship at the time of submitting their entry. Judging will also take into consideration what year of study the Apprentice is in and their current experience in the industry. A winner can be chosen from any year based upon their ability, aptitude and feedback from line managers etc.

 

HOSPITALITY APPRENTICE / TRAINEE OF THE YEAR

Awarded to a Hospitality Apprentice/Trainee whose attitude to his or her profession has been highly praised by his or her teachers, superiors, employer, and whose work demonstrates the highest levels of customer care and professionalism.
Open to anyone regardless of their experience who is completing any form of Hospitality Apprenticeship or Traineeship (domestic students/permanent residents only) provided they have not fully completed their Apprentice/ Traineeship at the time they submit their entry form.

 

CHEF OF THE YEAR

Awarded to a Chef whose attitude and dedication to innovation in the kitchen has created enthusiasm in the hospitality industry.
Open to anyone who is currently working as a Chef within the industry, excluding those undertaking an Apprenticeship. Entrants do not need to hold a formal qualification provided they have a minimum five year’s industry experience.

 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE / FRONT OF HOUSE EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

Awarded to an employee who has made an outstanding contribution in their field, earning them recognition within and beyond the hospitality industry.

 

MANAGER / SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR

Awarded to a Manager or Supervisor whose attitude to his or her job has been outstanding and whose contribution to the hospitality industry has been an inspiration to other members of the staff.

 

PRODUCT SUPPLIER OF THE YEAR

Awarded to a Product Supplier whose contribution and service through his or her business has resulted in outstanding service to the industry.

 

WINE LIST AWARD (SA only)

Awarded to a business whose wine list is judged as most appropriate to their menu, venue and customer base.
