SA Member Event: Industrial Relations Q&A

3:00pm Monday, 2 August 2021
5:00pm Monday, 2 August 2021
Wallman’s Lawyers
5/400 King William St
Adelaide, South Australia 5000

The Restaurant & Catering Association have been successful in advocating the changes to the Restaurant Industry Award & Hospitality Award, which will take effect from 1st November 2021.

We would like to invite you to an exclusive chat with Brendon Zhu, the R&CA Senior Advisor of Industrial Relations and Policy, R&CA SA Sponsor Wallmans Lawyers & our special guests Abbey Kendall (Director of the Working Women’s Centre).

Brendon will discuss the latest updates to the Restaurant Award, and how R&CA are here to help navigate your business through it.

Wallman’s Lawyers are in the room to talk to you about wage theft, bullying claims, unfair dismissal, and what to do if this happens in your business.

This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and gain information directly from Brendon & the Wallmans Lawyers on:

  • Staff shortages and the lack of skilled visa workers (including skilled chefs and managers, working holiday makers, foreign students & getting more Australians into hospitality).
  • Industrial Relations and the Award – the latest changes to the Restaurant Award
  • Business disruption and impact of restrictions on the industry - when restrictions and lockdowns hit, R&CA is ensuring governments across the country understand what they need to do to support our businesses through those damaging periods.
  • The fight for temporary COVID rules to be made permanent, including allowing restaurants to sell alcohol for takeaway purposes and making it easier to set up outdoor dining.

R&CA are joining forces with the Working Women’s Centre to help connect workers with work opportunities, educate members on workers’ rights and workplace relations, and to influence the perception of workplace culture in hospitality. The Working Women’s Centre is a not for profit organisation that provides industrial information, advice and representation to women and vulnerable workers from the hospitality industry. Director Abbey Kendall and Junior Industrial Officer Lungaka Mbedla will be joining us to discuss their clients experiences.
